Programs Designed to Grow With Her
From her first introduction to STEM to preparing for college and future careers, G.E.M.S. provides age-appropriate learning, mentorship, and experiences that help girls discover their potential and build confidence every step of the way.
Empowering Girls to Explore, Learn, and Lead in STEM
G.E.M.S. (Girls Embracing Mechanics and STEM) is a nonprofit foundation dedicated to helping African American girls discover their potential in STEM and aerospace. Through hands-on learning, mentorship, academic resources, and meaningful experiences, we create opportunities for girls to build confidence and prepare for futures where their voices and talents can make a difference.
01 — Discover
At an early age, learning begins with curiosity. Our youngest learners are introduced to simple STEM concepts through playful activities, interactive experiences, and hands-on exploration. We encourage them to ask questions, experiment, and discover how the world around them works while developing a positive relationship with learning from the very beginning.
02 — Explore
As students grow, our elementary programs help strengthen their understanding of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through engaging experiments and creative projects. Girls are encouraged to explore new ideas, solve simple problems, work together, and develop the confidence to keep asking questions and discovering what they can accomplish.
03 — Build
During the middle school years, students begin developing a deeper understanding of STEM and how it connects to the world around them. Through hands-on projects, problem-solving, teamwork, and real-world applications, G.E.M.S. helps girls strengthen their critical-thinking skills while exploring STEM pathways and discovering areas where their interests and talents can grow.
04 — Prepare
As students approach graduation, G.E.M.S. helps them turn their interests and experiences into a vision for the future. Our programs provide opportunities for career exploration, mentorship, academic development, and leadership while helping students prepare for college and future careers in STEM and aerospace. We want every girl to move forward knowing that she belongs and has the potential to lead.
